POST 001 - EPSILON 5
There's a version of the truth in which none of this is true.
You know we wouldn't want to cause you any inconvenience
or get in the way of you doing things the way you usually do.
In fact, if you like, we can leave you as we find you, just exactly as you are.
But either way, let us just imagine, for the purpose of our story, that,
at some time in the future, we are able to make contact with an alien form of life.
And, furthermore, let us imagine that this alien life form is, to a great extent,
far more intelligent than we are. What, then would be the nature of this contact,
and, proceeding from it, what would ensue?
---
Of course, in the context of deep space time, it is probably quite unrealistic
for us to expect that we have any future at all.
But let us assume that somehow we continue to evolve, through branches of the transhuman
species, into forms of life which can reach out further to the stars.
Then it is hard to imagine a universe where, sooner or later, there would not be
some kind of occasion for first contact with another form of life other than our own.
---
Let's take as an example the case of the Epsilon Eridani System located in Sector 919.
I first became aware of this region of space through social media, when I found
an entry in the Captain's Log of USS Atlantis (NCC-67781) dated 2374.
By following the thread of posts linked to this entry, constrained by the timestamp
recorded at the time of posting, I began to unravel a fictional account of discoveries
which were supposedly being made around the vicinity of the Epsilon system at the beginning
of the Third Millennium, but which were actually recorded as events taking place at least
one thousand years before.
I knew this was just a story.
Of course it was just a made up story, but I began to wonder;
"What if it were true?"
And this led me to conjecture that, perhaps, the life form which they claim to have discovered may
actually be an entity which lives and, therefore, thinks, in the fifth dimension.
"What, from a merely human point of view, would a fifth dimensional life form look like?"
The following explanation is my attempt to answer that question.
If I write in the first person, it is because I am trying to present to you things I see
in the way I see them.
But if sometimes I speak for both of us, I hope you will forgive me.
